VCU Certificate in Paralegal Studies
Prerequisites
Applicants should have at least four years of professional work experience (preferably in an office setting) or an associate’s degree in any field. Basic computer competency and high-speed internet are required.
Meeting with an advisor before enrolling is encouraged to ensure readiness for this intensive, six-month program.
Completion Requirements
- Complete all assignments and exams via the online Learning Management System (LMS)
- Earn at least 70% in each course module
- Maintain a cumulative score of 75% or higher to earn the VCU Certificate in Paralegal Studies
Financial Assistance
This is a noncredit program, so it is not eligible for federal aid (FAFSA). However, many banks and credit unions offer private or continuing education loans.

Withdrawal & Refund Policy
- Cancel up to two weeks before the program start date for a full refund minus a $100 processing fee.
- No refunds after that date.
- Transfers to a future session (within one year) permitted based on availability.
- Participant substitutions accepted up to two business days before the start.
- For students on a payment plan: full balance due if withdrawing after the cancellation deadline.
