About

AP African American Studies

Designed for current and future educators of AP African American Studies, this 4-week asynchronous, online course offers a dynamic, collaborative space to build confidence, deepen content knowledge and strengthen instructional strategies. Guided by national educator feedback, participants will explore foundational and cultural concepts in African American Studies, develop effective lesson plans and gain practical tools to enhance student engagement.

Foundations of Instructional Design

Rooted in learning theory and supported by strategy, instructional design blends creativity and evidence-based practice to help people absorb and apply knowledge efficiently. In VCU’s Foundations of Instructional Design Program, you’ll explore major frameworks like backward design and AGILE, how to assess a learner’s needs, craft curriculum, and manage learning projects from start to finish. Upon successful completion of the program, you’ll not only understand what instructional design is – you’ll also practice it with confidence.

Storytelling

Narrative Therapy: Trust Building and Trauma Recovery through Stories is a 4-week online course that explores how storytelling can be a powerful tool for healing, connection and personal growth. Through guided exercises and reflective prompts, participants will learn to give voice to grief, navigate trauma and build trust by shaping their own narratives. Designed for anyone interested in the healing power of stories, especially therapists, counselors, and educators, this course provides a supportive space to develop storytelling skills, foster emotional resilience, and create communities rooted in empathy and understanding.
